Four Reasons For Forming Study Groups In High School
At some point in everyone’s life we need to study for either school, to further our education at a tertiary education or for work. The problem with study is that it can be daunting to a lot of people as they are not sure what practical techniques work.
The Public Library. Libraries are the ultimate study environment. That IS what they are designed for. Most libraries have individual cubicles, couches, and tables to meet individual needs. Research can be done immediately. Libraries have computers and have areas for personal computers as well. There are generally small rooms for group work. Libraries have copy machines; and many now are equipped with vending machines for snacking needs.
So, what are you curious about? What do you want to know? Write a list; be imaginative and allow your mind the freedom to dream up whatever questions it likes. The aim here is to allow yourself to believe you can learn about anything you want.
Now take a serious look at your list. Can you see any links to the subjects you smart custom writing? These links may not seem obvious at first; however as you allow yourself flexibility of thinking you may start to notice a pattern. Use arrows, circles and coloured pens to take note of places where your curiosity intersects with your subjects. The links will be there, even if you need to use some lateral thinking to recognise them. For example you may want to know more about how to make money. This could link to Business Studies or Economics. You may want to know how to communicate more effectively with girls /boys. Can you can see a link to English (or the themes in your prescribed texts). Do you want to improve your skill at a particular sport? Maybe you can find a link to Biology or Physics.
Once you have a fairly clear idea what you want to write, it’s time to take things up a notch and create a blueprint. Whereas the first part of the planning stage should be quite free-flowing, it’s now time to arrange things into a cohesive structure. Some people skip the blueprint stage altogether, and that’s a matter of personal preference and also depends on what you’re writing and why. But I find rushing ahead to write before I have a clear idea what I’m writing about often leads to dead-ends and a lot of frustration and wasted time. I like to have a blueprint for what I’m writing – or at the very least a clear idea of the beginning, middle and end. Then I can simply relax into the next step and be confident that there’s an underlying structure in place to keep me right.
And writing never seems to come that easy to you as it does to Real Writer. Maybe that’s because Real Writer is a fiction. He doesn’t exist. And you should stop holding him up as the model for what writing looks like.
How long a book takes to write depends on how long the book is. Many eBooks are really only a long report or a white paper. However, I did mention writing a real book. So this book is going to be about 25,000 words long or roughly 100 pages. While this is short, it does fit as a continentals or airline book. These are books you can read in the time it takes to fly from New York to Los Angeles.
A more pricey gift, but nonetheless, any teen will love it. A camera would make a great gift for your photography loving teen! Lots of young teens love taking pictures. They might want one to take pictures with friends, create memories, shoot fun videos, or simply because they like photography! The only problem is if you get your teen a camera, she is probably going to want a SD card too so she can get started snapping pictures right away! I have a Canon powershot and it takes really nice pictures so I recommend that one to you (or your teen).
As a teacher, I always maintained a website for my students to use. My email was listed and I also placed my campus phone and home phone on the site. Next to the home phone I asked that students not call after 10 PM but other than that I was available. I also maintained a study forum where students could ask questions of each other and me and answers went flying across the internet in this virtual classroom. The ability to contact your teacher is a powerful tool that many students don’t use effectively.
A wonderful gift. It’s very reasonable in pricing, and what teen doesn’t like music? Getting your teen a music CD definitely shows that you care. Try finding out there favorite singer or band. Subtley, of course.
When you are conversing with your teen, don’t try to give lectures, as they don’t work. Try to maintain conversations regularly with your teen to stay connected with his life, friends and studies. When your teen is convinced that you are making honest effort in making his life positive, then there are higher chances of getting favorable results.
